To help you dance as much as possible throughout the class, we begin to balance the number of leads and follows right away. Thus, we highly recommend pre-registration. If you do not see your role available, just send us an email and we’ll pop you on (and shortly off) the waitlist.

Swing I

Introductory

This class is for the true beginner. We introduce the concepts of leading and following as well as the basic rhythm and turns of 6-Count Swing. We present the material at a moderate pace – quick enough to keep it movin’ but slow enough to allow plenty of practice time. If you’ve never taken a dance class before, this is a great place to start.

Pre-Requisites: No experience or partner required.

Introductory

This class focuses on creating smooth and eye-catching transitions between open and closed position. In addition, you’ll add triple steps to your 6-count swing repertoire. Swing II A, B & C each present different material and sessions can be taken in any order.

Swing III A – Tuck Turns & Way Way More

Intermediate

Pump up your six count swing dancing with these new figures that will get you traveling, turning and sliding across the floor. Swing III A, B & C each present different material and sessions can be taken in any order.

Balboa I

Intermediate

Balboa is a smooth and relaxed close-embrace dance that is perfect for crowded dance floors and quicker tempos. Since its invention by Southern California teenagers in the 1930's, it has grown to world-wide popularity. In this class, you'll learn the basic rhythms and several classic variations, while focusing on good technique and connection, so that you can comfortably balboa all night long. You do not need a partner to enroll.

Solo Jazz/Charleston I

Introductory

Solo movement is a fantastic way to work on your body control, styling, and fluidity. In this class, you'll learn the classic vernacular jazz steps that make up swing line dances, like "The Shim Sham" and add style to your Swing and Lindy partnered movement as well.

In this class, you'll learn the next level of solo vernacular jazz movements that add syncopation and full body expression to your dancing. If you've got the moves of the shim sham in you back pocket, take your solo game up a level!

Lindy I – Beginning Lindy Hop

Intermediate

Building on the rhythms and skills of Swing I and II, Lindy I will add numerous 8-Count patterns, including the most prominent steps of the Lindy Hop: the Swing Out, Circle and Skip Ups.

Pre-Requisites: Swing I, And 1 Full 4-week Session of Swing II (A, B or C)

Lindy 1.5 – Continuing Lindy Hop

Intermediate

This class introduces even more 8-count patterns, including side by side Charleston (that kicky-thing that looks like so much fun), and builds confidence in your swing out, circle and double turns. There will be lots of new patterns and helpful technique tips to make your dancing feel yummy to you and your partner.

Lindy II A, B, C, & D – Super Fun Variations

Intermediate

In each of our Lindy II classes, you’ll learn numerous Swing Out variations and the skills to create your own. Each session will also add unique 8-count turning patterns, swivels, traveling steps and eye-catching endings. But wait, there’s more! You’ll also learn how to seamlessly re-incorporate your 6-Count patterns to create a dynamic, musical dance with your partner. Lindy II A, B, C & D each present different material and sessions can be taken in any order.

Pre-Requisites: Swing II A, B and C and Lindy I and 1.5

Lindy Lab

Intermediate

This class deeply examines the lead/follow technique that makes partnering more effective and efficient. As form and function are deeply connected, your styling will improve as well. Each class presents different material, and it designed to take 5-6 times in a row.

Pre-Requisites: At least two Lindy II classes and Swing III classes as familiarity with mixing 6s and 8s is essential.

Lindy III B – Tandem Charleston Variations

Intermediate

This class focuses on Tandem (or shadow) Charleston. It’s the “kicky-thing” that everyone is so excited to learn and dance. This class may be taken concurrently with Lindy II. Lindy III A, B, and C may be taken in any order.

Lindy IV A-I – Lindy Hop Spectacular

Intermediate / Advanced

With each Lindy IV class, you’ll take your technique and musicality to a new level. The Lindy IV series introduces new patterns, swing out variations, rhythm options and Charleston variations. In this level, you’ll improve your technique, timing, pulse and balance to become better leaders and followers through exciting redirections and impressive turns. Each session presents different material, and sessions can be taken in any order.

Pre-Requisites: Lindy II A-D, Lindy III A-C, Swing III A-C, and instructor permission

Jazz III - Big Apple Choreography (2-session class)

Intermediate / Advanced

The Big Apple is the solo circle dance made famous by the 1931 film, 'Keep Punchin.'" Choreographed by Frankie Manning. This dance has become one of the 2 most popular solo jazz-era dances around the world, second only to the Shim Sham. This fast paced classis for folks who want to improve their solo movement vocabulary and speed in addition to learning the choreography. It's also now a Fizz and First Friday tradition.

Pre-Requisites: Jazz II (several sessions) or instructor approval
