First Friday

A casual night of great music, dancing, and people!

On the First Friday of every month, we host a dance at the studio. We start with a beginner-friendly swing lesson and then open up the floor for Dj’d dancing. You’ll have the opportunity to dance with folks of all abilities, as partners rotate throughout the night. And when you don’t feel like dancing, just relax and take in the scene. Light snacks (something salty and something sweet) and water are provided. And it’s BYOB (for our 21+ guests only).

I went tonight for the short lesson and open dance. I had a blast! It has been too long since I last danced. It was a bit hot and crowded, but there were plenty of people there to dance. I’ll definitely be back, and I definitely recommend Big City Swing. – Reviewed 5/6/16 on Facebook

I’ve taken an array of lessons in the past and their intro lesson will get you out on the floor with confidence.  You’ll learn the basic step and a couple moves to twirl your way around the floor. – Read the full review on Yelp. Andrew

If you want to get hooked into this scene or just learn some classic American dances BCS is a good place to get introduced. You could either give First Fridays a try (first friday of the month they have a beginning lesson and a dance for $10), or just sign up for Swing I cold like I did. Just be warned that once you start learning it’s a bit addictive… you might get caught practicing your triple steps in the supermarket like some kind of jitterbugging junkie. -Read the full review on Yelp. It was a so much fun. The instructors were very easy to follow. The class was full so we got a chance to dance with lots of different people. The dance afterwards was just as fun. I’m now going to sign up for the intro to swing class. I recommend this for anyone any age.” – Read the full review on Yelp. Billie
